Control | Threats | Process:
When someone purchase a computer from a store, he will
definitely ask for an anti-virus software to be installed or at
least purchase one his preferred own so that his computer can
be sure to resist any virus attacks coming from the Internet or
Email. Some even has firewalls installed to demand better security
from those threats. That's good! One should not underestimate
the power of viruses and Trojan horses, especially in these times
of widespread broadband usage. But are these enough? No. There
are anti-spywares, anti-malwares, anti-this, anti-that etc. All
these must be installed in each and every computer. But wait!
Are we really safe?
“One main reason why a computer can be hacked/attacked
in the first place with virus, worms, spyware etc. is that any
process is allowed to execute and communicate once it has entered
the computer.”
Processes:
Traditional Solutions – Anti-virus, anti-spyware
New Methods – Protect approved processes and reject all
unwanted processes
Communications:
Traditional Solutions – Firewall, Filtering (email, web
etc.), Anti-SPAM
New Methods – Ensure communication only happens through
approved processes. Parent/Child.
Imagine this scenario:
You have antivirus in your network system, anti-malware, anti-spyware,
etc. You even have firewalls. However during a virus outbreak,
you will have to wait until your anti-virus company provides you
with the antidote. What happens if this particular virus in already
residing in your PC, and spreading fast to other computers in
the network?
As a business owner/CEO/school principal, are you aware that
it takes about 2 weeks to a month for anti-virus companies to
provide the antidote? You need solutions fast. You need proactive
approach to such problems and threats. You need to enforce a policy
to all computers in the network in super quick time! How do you
do that?
